What is Bowen Quantum Natural Health?
The developer of Bowen Fascial Kinetics (FK), Russell Sturgess, attended one of the first courses taught by one of Tom Bowen’s students. His technique remains very true to the original Bowen that he learned, but he has spent many years researching how and why the technique works so well. This deep understanding enhances the results of the therapy.

understanding
There are many different explanations for how Bowen FK Therapy works. Research has
been undertaken that proves that Bowen FK Therapy works, but no research has yet
been carried out to explain exactly how it works.
A
new concept in bodywork
Bowen Quantum Natural Health is a new concept in bodywork. It is neither derived from or
substantially similar to any other physical modality. There is no manipulation
of joints or bony structures as in chiropractic—however, misalignments will
almost invariably right themselves. There is no deep or prolonged contact with
muscle tissue as in massage—however, muscle tensions and strains are relieved
and normal lymphatic flow restored.
With each Bowen FK move, the fascia is displaced and minutely
"disturbed"; it is not forcefully separated. After a series of Bowen
Quantum Natural Health sessions, adhesions tend to loosen and scar tissue frequently softens and
shrinks on its own because impediments to the natural healing process are
removed, but Bowen FK is not just Fascial Release.
Although many traditional acupressure points are used in the sequences, these are not addressed in anything resembling Chinese medical theory—however, meridian readings and acupuncture points will show strong and immediate changes.

Your practitioner is able to discern stress build up in different areas of the body.

However, a unique tool of your Bowen Quantum Natural Health practitioner is "tissue tension sense", meaning the practitioner is able to discern stress build up in muscle groups and then utilize Bowen FK moves to release that stress.
The success of the outcome of the treatment is enhanced by your practitioner's experience and assessment skills, and their ability to view the body as a whole unit and understand where the root of the problem lies. By combining moves, both in placement and in combination, your practitioner is able to address the body as a whole or target a specific problem.

Therapy
Fascial Kinetics (FK) is known as the Home of Homeopathy of Massage, as it has been shown to treat most symptoms of the body.
Your therapist, through a series of cross-fibre moves, releases 'glueing' in the fascia, allowing the tissue to become more moveable through better hydration. As the fascia improves in its hydration your body is able to better supply nutrients to your cells, and remove waste. There will be less restriction on muscles, tendons and ligaments and the vascular, lymphatic and nervous systems will be able to function more effectively.
What is Fascia?
Fascia is a connective tissue found extensively throughout the body. It's found immediately under the skin and surrounds every muscle, bone and organ in the body. The father of Osteopathy, Andrew Still said, "the place to look for the cause of disease in the body is in "fascias". The state of your fascia determines the state of health of your body.
Bowen FK is different to massage since it does not require oil, can be done through clothing and is disjointed in its application. It's also different because it effects the Fascia of the body, not the bones and joints like in Chiropractic or muscles and ligaments like Physiotherapy. This is a non-invasive approach that works.
Before the treatment you will be asked to supply some essential personal details, your health history and details about your current situation. A glass of water is taken before and after treatment.
Your Bowen Quantum Natural Health Treatment.
In most instances some work will be done on your back. It's best to be wearing loose clothing and unrestricted underwear. Your therapist carries out a series of moves strategically situated around the body, designed to help the specific problem.
This is interrupted by several two minute rest periods, which is important to the process.
Quantum Energy is applied directly to any problem areas of the body during these waiting periods. The session will last between 30-60 minutes.
A glass of water is also taken at the end of treatment. The client is encouraged to drink 6-8 glasses (1.5 - 2 litres) of water over the next twenty-four hours (not caffeine based).

Most often, immediately after a session the client will notice a deepening of restful sleep with further resolution to range of motion and pain in the days following the session. For this reason sessions are usually spaced out with several days (5-9) in between.
